I’ve been looking for a worthy successor to Masters of Orion 2 for a long time. To me (and many others), that remains a pinnacle of space 4X game design that has, sadly, never been fully duplicated. Firaxis has announced a spiritual successor to Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, called Civilization: Beyond Earth. I played the hell out of that game when it came out – I’m definitely looking forward to this release when it arrives in the fall…

Wait, what game is this again?
